Salt Lake City Groundbreaking

SL-Ground-BreakingGroundbreaking for new LEED certified WAXIE Sanitary Supply building to take place. Environmentally-aware programs to be used in and after construction.

SLC, UT, September 4, 2008: The groundbreaking ceremony for the new WAXIE Sanitary Supply building, projected to be a LEED certified facility, took place on September 4, 2008 at 2:30 pm at 5107 W 1730 S in Salt Lake City, Utah. Guests included Charles Wax, owner of WAXIE Sanitary Supply, Carlton Christensen, Salt Lake City Councilmember, and Jason Perry, Executive Director of the Economic Development Division of the Governor’s Office. Construction on the new building is expected to be complete by the 2nd quarter of 2009.

The new structure will include matting made of recycled materials, water-efficient landscaping, and will maximize use of natural outdoor lighting with 75% of interior having daylight views. When completed, the building will also have alternate parking spaces for fuel-efficient vehicles and bike racks to encourage environment-aware travel. The company will also pursue air quality testing for a healthy building, as well as implementing internal recycling and green cleaning programs.

 

NETWORK HONORS FOUR MEMBER COMPANIES AND CEO

Mount Prospect, IL (October 7, 2008)—Network Services Company, a $15 billion international organization comprised of 76 independent distributors of janitorial supplies, foodservice disposables, industrial packaging products and printing materials, presented awards recognizing excellence at its 40th annual stockholder meeting, held in Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, September 14-16, 2008.

Waxie Sanitary Supply of San Diego, California, received the IT Excellence Award for its application of information technology. The award was given to Charles Wax, President and CEO, and Jeff Roberts, Executive Vice President.

American Paper & Twine Co. of Nashville, Tennessee, was named Servicing Agent of the Year for its efforts in servicing Network national accounts. David Morris, Vice President/Treasurer and Mark Wright, Vice President of Sales, received the award. 

Penn Jersey Paper Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was named Member of the Year for its outstanding performance as a Network member. Tom Furia, Jr., is the President and Chief Operating Officer.

INPACS—Network’s European member—of Berlin, Germany, received the Dedicated Partnership Award. The award was given to Adolf Kruse, INPACS Chairman of the Board.

R. James Alexy, the CEO of Network, received the Meritorious Award, Network’s most prestigious award to an individual, in recognition of his contribution to the success of Network and its growth into a $15.1 billion global organization. Since joining Network in 1992, Network’s National Account revenue has enjoyed compound annual growth of 19 percent, and cumulative North American revenue has increased from $1.8 billion to $10.6 billion.

Among his initiatives was the creation of NetPrint, Network’s distribution organization focused on printing paper and related products. Alexy led Network’s expansion into Europe in 2005 through the membership of INPACS, and a strategic alliance with Igepa, the European leader in printing paper products.
